ABSTRACT
Effective sample collection is crucial for obtaining reliable data and minimizing risks. Proper field techniques help reduce errors, enhance data accuracy, and ensure regulatory compliance. This presentation will cover fundamental best practices for field sampling, including event planning, essential supply checklists, and strategies to minimize contamination. Additionally, it will address the importance of allowing sufficient space for homogenization within sample containers while meeting volume requirements. Proper field measurements for Total Chlorine and pH, particularly when collecting microbial samples, will also be discussed. Given the critical role of bacteriological sampling, employing sound collection techniques can significantly reduce false positives, ultimately preventing complications when explaining failure rates to regulatory authorities.
