ABSTRACT
The use of inline gas diffusion for sample preparation in colorimetric testing of ammonia and Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen (TKN) has gained increasing popularity as a more efficient alternative to traditional distillation methods. This presentation will explore the principles behind gas diffusion, focusing on its application for both ammonia and TKN analysis, and how it compares to distillation. Additionally, we will discuss EPA acceptance for ammonia and TKN analysis using gas diffusion, system maintenance, suitable sample types, and the use of an automated block digester for the TKN digestion protocol. The colorimetric testing following the gas diffusion process will also be discussed.
