Danelle Haake

Danelle Haake has been the Illinois RiverWatch Director and Stream Ecologist with the National Great Rivers Research & Education Center since 2020. She earned her BS at Missouri State University, MS at Iowa State, and PhD at St. Louis University. Haake’s experience in aquatic ecology includes more than two decades of participation in, development of, and partnership with community science programs. Current projects include an ongoing analysis of the impacts of salt loads on stream invertebrates, both using traditionally collected data and long-term community science datasets. Haake is also the lead investigator of a freshwater mussel study that includes participants from the Illinois Natural History Survey, Saint Louis Zoo, and community scientists with the Upper Sangamon River Conservancy.
